How Do a Gateway under Windows NT with two or more Lan Card on TCP/IP ??
I.E : You have 2 Lan segment
(one ethernet lan and a Token Ring lan or Fast Ethernet Lan and 10 mbits/s Ethernet one)
and you want to interconnect all?
- Fisrt step :
- You must Install RIP network services under NT.
- go to control panel/network
- select services tabsheet
- add RIP for internet Protocol service
- It can be found on Windows NT Server CD-ROM
- But I'm not sure it's on NT Workstation
- Second Step :
- In the proctocol tabsheet select Tcp/ip Protocol
- Select the first Network Card
- Specify an IP address
- a nice Net-mask
- Gateway Adress is the same than the first card adress
- Do the same for second card But You must enter another Network Adress
- I.E for a class C network
- first card - IP adress 192.10.0.254
Sub-net Mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway Adress 192.10.0.254
- second card - IP adress 192.10.2.254
Sub-net Mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway Adress 192.10.2..254
- Thrid Step :
- In the Routing tabsheet, check Activate Routing.
- Tips :
- to speed up browsing in network neighbourhood put all your computer in same Domain or workgroup name.
- Remove NETBeui, the ugly microsoft protocol which is broadcasting everytime for nothing.
- And finally, here are some usefull regs :
- Autorun off.
- Autorun on.
- Cleanup-pagefile-at-boot.
- Completion-character (tab).
- Do not wait for non response appz at log off.
- Drag full windows ( contenu actif durant le deplacement des fenetres ).
- Fast menu show delay.
- My color set.
- Small wait to kill application timeout.
